Our pediatric eye testing is simple, accurate, and painless. Best of all, you can be proactive by improving your child’s vision so that she or he can do well in school, among other benefits. Furthermore, by testing for common childhood eye conditions, treatment can begin promptly enough to lead to positive outcomes. At Trang Tran, OD & Esther Tan, OD, we are committed to optimal eye health and vision for your child.
Our pediatric eye exam in Paradise includes determining if your child need eyeglasses. This is done with a visual acuity test, such as reading from an eye chart, or if your child is not old enough to read, using a fun and effective game as a substitute. Then a refractive assessment is performed, which simply means trying out different strength lenses in order to find out if any of them give her or him improved vision, and if so then which are the most ideal. The eye health portion of our pediatric eye exam in Paradise involves screenings for cataracts and glaucoma, two eye diseases that are typically associated with adults, but also can impact kids. Other conditions are more specific to children, and among them are amblyopia (lazy eye), strabismus (crossed eyes), double vision, and drooping eyelid. While none of them pose a serious threat to your child’s eye health, they all can present challenges to his or her vision that need to be addressed in a timely manner. If you have any reason to believe that your child is suffering with symptoms that are affecting her or his vision in some way, it is never too early to bring your child in for an examination. Otherwise, all kids should have a first checkup before starting school, and at least every two years thereafter.
